A Little Minty

Hey, everyone!

Yes, I am alive...and here are some mint chocolate chip ice cream cone earrings to prove it!  Of course, I have not been as productive as I wish I could be at this time.  However, I do hope to be able to incorporate some miniatures back into my life despite college... we will see how that goes!

A Touch of Sugar

Food jewelry is always a big hit at craft shows, so I always try to have a good supply of it for sales. I have my first show of the year in October, and it always takes a long time to stock up for a considerably large show like this. It hasn't even been a year since my last show, but I'm still so excited to get back out there again!

Here are two of the many, many pairs of earrings that I've been making recently.

Ice cream cones are always very popular. They're one of my favorites too. :)

Ice Cream in the Winter

Many people keep reminding me of how much they are ready for summer. As for me, I am not ready for summer because there is too much to do before summer comes.

For those of you who can't wait for summer, here are some little ice cream cones in anticipation of the hot season. I made these cones into charms for bracelets or necklaces.

The cone in the picture above is "birthday cake" ice cream. I've never tasted this interesting flavor before, but I hear a lot about it. I researched pictures of it and did my best to imitate it.

Of course all of you probably already know the flavor in the second picture (below). Mint chocolate chip is always extremely popular around here. Personally I love chocolate, vanilla, and strawberry combined together!
Summer is right around the corner, and I am seeking to make more ice cream cones soon. Any suggestions on popular or tasty ice cream flavors?

As summer unwinds...

It's time to enjoy some mint chocolate chip ice cream as summer rapidly unwinds. For a little while, it seemed like everything I made revolved around an ice cream theme. I will not be making enormous amounts of ice cream during the fall and winter months because it is sometimes considered "out of season". For me, ice cream is never out of season!

This is a homemade mint chocolate chip ice cream prep board. So instead of this ice cream being made in a factory, it's just being made from scratch at home. I guess it's an original idea for a prep board!

Note the little puddles of melted ice cream splattered across the board. Normally, I would do anything to avoid such a slurpy mess, but in this case I intentionally created the mess! Everything is handmade as usual.

Although this is an extremely basic prep board, it is a fun, cheerful little piece fit for anyone!
A closer look. Note the two full, hardened ice cream scoops.

Crispy Cones

I very much prefer making my ice cream cones in bulk. Once I really get into it, it can be hard to stop me... that is until my fingers start feeling numb from creating that rigid texture that ice cream has. It is, as usual, a long and tedious process to make this particular little miniature.
Another ice cream surprise is in the making, but there are no photos of it yet! I still have to get around to baking it and adding final touches.

Making the cones.

Ahhh-- the finished product!! The ice cream cones displayed above were converted into dangly earrings. Mmm! Vanilla bean ice cream, rich chocolate syrup, and rainbow colored sprinkles-- all served in one crispy, crunchy cone!
