I was productive last week with some Christmas-themed miniatures, including cookies and a Christmas cookie prep board! New cookies are currently underway, so stay tuned. :)

Something Minty
As it is already December and nearing Christmas, I decided it's about time to blog about something holiday-related...so here we have a peppermint gingerbread house with a little bit of shrubbery!

An Original...and a Replica
As a final piece to add the collection of miniatures that I gave to my cousin [see here], I have completed a replica of her wedding cake. It felt good to make a cake again!
The miniature replica stands four (4) centimeters in height.

An Unusual Project
Throughout the course of the summer, I was primarily focused on the rather lengthy project of creating sculptures to fill an entire miniature display shelf to give to my newly-married cousin (on the occasion of her bridal shower in August). Each miniature has a specific meaning or symbolism related to the bride. From start to finish, it took approximately 20 tedious hours to complete this shelf. All in all, I really enjoyed deviating from my normal routine to complete this unusual type of work!
Now that I'm back to school and also balancing a part time job, my time to make miniatures has been very limited. However, I'm slowly attempting to "fix that problem" in as much as I can, and I hope to be posting more when time permits.

Carved Watermelon Basket
In between working on a rather large and lengthy project, I have been spending a little time sculpting my first miniature watermelon basket. I was always extremely fascinated by these when I was younger, so I figured that it is about time that I try making one.
Below is a picture of my new watermelon basket, complete and fully prepared to be devoured with sliced watermelon cubes within the hollow of the basket.

Still Feeling Fruity
This past week, I was struck with another irresistible urge to sculpt more fruit. I am beginning to wonder if my obsession with miniature fruit will be incurable and lifelong...but I suppose that's all right!
Anyhow, this was the result of an afternoon spent sculpting and "watching" an episode or two of BBC's Foyle's War.

Cantaloupe Melon
With the summer around the bend, I've been thinking a lot about all of the various, colorful fruits that will soon be in the peak of their season. Of course, I used this inspiration to make something new--a cantaloupe melon!

Ripe and Ready Bananas
After completing a custom order for bananas recently, I decided to make an extra set and list it in my Etsy shop. It's really too much fun making fruit, so I'm hoping to make more and try some new types too (eventually) ! :)

French Macaroons
After receiving a request for French macaroons, I finally made some multi-colored/multi-flavored macaroons...with boxes and lids! It was so much fun (too much fun, actually!) choosing the different colors to make these. Although they were considerably tedious, I was satisfied with the result. As always, I look forward to making more in the near future.
Until next time--wishing an early Happy Easter to all of my followers around the globe!

Dabbling with Cakes Again
Realizing that I hadn't made a cake in such a long while (or really anything else), I sat down one day and decided to have a little fun. This little rose cake was the result! I love the shade of plum, and I thought I would top this cake off with a few plum-colored roses.
Also, near the bottom of this post, I added two pictures of the last gingerbread houses that I made for the 2012 series.

Trying Something New
First of all, I hope all of you had a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! Now that the holidays are over, I am anxious to get back to making miniatures when time allows.
I had almost forgotten to share my very first attempt at making sushi. Because I am uneducated in the art of sushi, I simply followed a picture and recreated what I saw (without really knowing exactly what I was making!). It was a nice change to make something new and quite different, so I definitely would like to make more and improve it...whenever I finally get around to it! ;)
